Privacy Policy
Last updated: 16/05/2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Momentum ("the app", "we", "us", or "our") handles information when you use the Momentum iOS and watchOS application.
Momentum is operated by Brad de Groot, trading as SquishyHQ, an Australian sole trader. This policy is provided in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles set out in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
Summary
Momentum is designed to keep your data private by default. The app operates entirely on your device. We do not collect, transmit, store, or have access to any personal information, workout data, or usage data from you. There are no analytics, no advertising, no third party trackers, and no servers operated by us that hold your data.
What information Momentum processes
On device data
When you use Momentum, the app processes the following information solely on your device:
Training plan progress and session history
Run timing, intervals, and workout configuration
Subscription status and entitlements (managed by Apple)
App preferences and settings
This information stays on your device. We do not receive a copy and have no ability to access it.
HealthKit data
Momentum integrates with Apple's HealthKit framework to read and write workout data so that your runs can be recorded as workouts in the Apple Health app.
With your permission, Momentum may:
Read workout data and related metrics (such as heart rate, distance, and pace) to support training features.
Write completed workouts to the Health app so your runs appear alongside your other activity.
HealthKit data is stored in the encrypted Health database on your device. It is not transmitted to us. If you have iCloud Sync enabled for Health data, it is synced between your own Apple devices through your Apple ID under Apple's privacy terms — we are not party to that sync and cannot access it.
You can grant or revoke HealthKit permissions at any time in Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices → Momentum on your iPhone.
In accordance with Apple's HealthKit terms, Momentum will never use HealthKit data for advertising, marketing, or similar services, and will never disclose HealthKit data to third parties.
Location and route data
With your permission, Momentum uses your device's location services to record the GPS route of your runs. This allows the app to track distance, pace, and the path of your workout.
How location data is handled:
Location data is collected only while you are actively recording a run, and only with your explicit permission granted through the iOS location permission prompt.
The route data is written to your workout in the Health app on your device as part of the recorded workout, alongside other workout metrics.
We do not receive, transmit, or store your location or route data on any server. It remains on your device and, if you have iCloud Sync enabled for Health data, synced between your own Apple devices under your Apple ID.
We do not generate heatmaps, share routes publicly, or use route data for any purpose other than recording your individual workout.
You can grant or revoke location permissions at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Momentum on your iPhone. Revoking location access will prevent the app from recording the route of future runs, but will not affect previously recorded workouts.
Subscription and purchase information
Momentum offers auto renewing subscriptions through Apple's In App Purchase system. When you subscribe:
Apple processes your payment and manages your subscription. We do not see or store your payment details, Apple Account email, or billing address.
Your device receives a receipt from Apple confirming your entitlement, which the app uses locally to unlock subscribed features.
Apple may provide us with aggregate, anonymised sales and subscription reports through App Store Connect. These reports do not identify individual users.
Apple's handling of your purchase is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy and the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions.
Information we do not collect
To be explicit, Momentum does not:
Collect or transmit personal information such as your name, email address, phone number, or location to us or to any third party. Location and route data, when recorded, is processed on your device and stored in the Health app. It is not sent to us.
Use any analytics, telemetry, or crash reporting services operated by us or by third parties.
Use advertising networks or behavioural advertising of any kind.
Use third party software development kits (SDKs) for tracking, marketing, or attribution.
Operate any server that stores user data.
Sell, rent, or share data with anyone for any purpose.
If you submit a crash report to Apple through iOS, that information is handled by Apple under its own privacy policy and may be shared with us in anonymised, aggregate form via Xcode and App Store Connect. We use such reports only to diagnose and fix bugs.
Children's privacy
Momentum is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly process information from children. The app is rated for general audiences but designed for users who can independently follow a running training program.
Your rights
Because we do not collect or hold personal information about you, there is generally no personal information for us to access, correct, or delete on your behalf. You retain full control of all data on your device. You can:
Delete your training history by deleting the app from your device.
Revoke HealthKit access at any time through iOS Settings.
Manage or cancel your subscription through Settings → Momentum → Subscriptions on your device.
Under the Australian Privacy Principles, you have rights to access and correct personal information held about you. If you believe we hold any personal information about you, you may contact us using the details below and we will respond within a reasonable period.
International users
Momentum is available in regions selected by the developer through the App Store. Wherever you use the app, the same on device approach applies. Your data stays on your device. We do not transfer your information across borders because we do not collect it in the first place.
Residents of the European Union and United Kingdom: because Momentum does not collect personal data, the GDPR concepts of data controller, processor, lawful basis, and international transfer do not apply to us in respect of your use of the app. Apple, as the operator of the App Store and as your payment processor, is the relevant data handler for transactional information.
Changes to this policy
If we change how Momentum handles information — for example, by adding a feature that involves collecting data — we will update this Privacy Policy and update the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be communicated within the app prior to taking effect.
